In February this year, the Council announced that it required a new software solution for its Admissions, Early Years and Children’s Centre systems. Following a competitive tender, Hounslow selected Synergy, Servelec’s modular-based suite of solutions which gives local authorities a holistic overview of all its interactions with children, young people and families.
Synergy makes information sharing simple – across systems, providers, departments and with other authorities - integrating seamlessly to record and manage all aspects of children's services. Its implementation will help support the Council’s 2020-2025 Digital Strategy, which outlines its vision to create connected and inclusive communities across the borough.
Hounslow’s citizens and stakeholders, such as childcare providers and schools, can also use Synergy to interact with the Council. For example, users will be able to keep track of progress made with in-year admissions, and will also now receive automatic responses to all their enquiries. These new capabilities will help to improve the user experience and support the Council in keeping track of all lines of enquiry.
Synergy reduces the administrative burden and removes duplication of data entry, not only giving local authorities more time to focus on improving outcomes, it also helps to make significant financial savings. It will also integrate with the Council’s existing social care system, providing the insight needed to make key decisions and secure better outcomes for those in need of support.
Cllr Pritam Grewal, Cabinet Member for Customer Services and Corporate Performance at Hounslow Council said: “As part of our Digital Strategy, we’re undergoing a complete digital service redesign, rather than simply replacing like for like. We’re making sure that our customers’ journey with us is easy and straightforward. We were looking for a system that was user-friendly, intuitive and had longevity, and we felt Synergy ticked these boxes.
“In partnership with Servelec, we’ll now be able engage with our customers throughout the implementation. Once the system is fully in place, our teams will see the time they spend on admin reduce dramatically, as information only needs to be added once. We aim to have one coherent system and we’re working in partnership with Servelec to achieve that.
“To follow our progress with the Synergy platform, keep an eye on Hounslow.Digital where we will be posting updates.”
David McKinney, Managing Director of Local Government at Servelec, commented: “Synergy software helps local authorities, schools and other providers support families more effectively by spanning the full education and child services spectrum. We are proud to support the London Borough of Hounslow and its Digital Strategy, and look forward to working with its education teams over the coming months.”
Work has now begun on implementing the new system which will continue over the next 15 months and is expected to be completed at the end of 2021.
