Managing 30,000 applications for school places every year, including over 7,000 mid-year requests requires a robust, reliable and integrated service management tool. Following a competitive tender process by Lincolnshire County Council, which focused on selecting a provider that met their significant requirements, the feature-rich Synergy suite was selected for its stability, efficiency, flexibility and cost-effectiveness.

Having provided education management systems to UK local authorities for the past 25 years, Servelec is uniquely placed to deliver a proven best-in-class solution for Lincolnshire County Council. The Synergy suite will provide an integrated platform tailored to the specific needs of every stakeholder, this, combined with Synergy’s ability to integrate with existing local authority systems, was a key factor in the Council choosing Synergy.

Following the signing of the contract, John O’Connor, Children’s Services Manager at Lincolnshire County Council said: “I’m delighted that we have successfully identified a partner in Servelec and their Synergy suite of education management software, who will help us and our schools navigate the challenges of managing tens of thousands of school applications every year."

“Synergy is well established among local authorities and has a clear track record of providing efficiencies. I am confident that the software will support our local working practices, reduce our administrative workload and enable our professionals to spend more time working and supporting our children and their families.”

Once fully implemented, the Synergy suite will enable Lincolnshire County Council to manage:

  • School admission and transfers for their 356 primary, secondary and special schools for 108,000 pupils
  • Over 7,000 mid-year applications
  • Admission appeals
  • Free school meal eligibility, including over 40,000 parent records
  • School transport entitlement
  • School rankings
  • School governor recording

“Integration and interoperability were key factors in choosing the right education management system,” adds John, “The Synergy suite integrates seamlessly with other systems, including third-party software, allowing us to accurately record and share data across the whole Council and develop a single view of every child.”

Lincolnshire County Council is an existing user of Servelec’s social care case management software Mosaic and has recently procured Servelec’s Rio electronic patient record system to support the delivery of secondary mental health services in the county.

Servelec’s Synergy suite is used by over 100 local authorities in the UK, enabling them to deliver better outcomes for children and their families.
